Dating Hang Ups: Being Called The Wrong Name

by Single Mom Dating on September 5, 2009

I have never called a man the wrong name before nor have I had a slip up; unlike my ex as mentioned in a previous post.

I was enjoying my evening chat with Brian again. It was lovely. He always makes me feel beautiful. I know , I know, anyone can say and portray anything they want online. It doesn’t matter to me since I am not taking anything too seriously. I am just merely enjoying the moment and if that means soaking up the compliments; then I will do so! He actually wanted to read this blog. I had briefly mentioned this blog and how I had blogged about him. Of course that caught his attention and he was eager to read it. I could never let a man I am interested in to read this blog. Shoo, I wouldn’t even let DE read this, even though DE has become a best friend to me over the past few years.

So after some more chat with Brian and changing the subject about this blog, I did let him check out another blog I have were I was taking photos of myself in various new make up looks. He responded back with “Wow Amy, you look gorgeous in these photos!”

STOP THE PRESSES!

Amy? Who the heck is Amy?

“Oh, Amy is one of my friends from (insert the forum site name here). She had messaged me earlier tonight. Sorry about that.”

Mmhmm. My initial response was that I wasn’t going to be played a fool while he tries to juggle many woman at once. I concluded he was a player and I didn’t want to talk to him anymore. I grew silent and took longer to respond to his messages, if I even chose to respond.

I talked about this the next morning with my sister and she said “I think you’re making a big deal about this. It happens sometimes. Felipe called a woman the wrong name and they had already gone out 3-4 times. Like he called her Katie but her name was Krystal.”

Then later I spoke on the phone with DE and told him about it and he said “Yup it happens and its no big deal. I did it once to a girl in college and she wouldn’t forgive me. I was so paranoid about her dorm room mate walking in on us that I accidentally called her, her room mate’s name. This was before we had sex and actually we didn’t end up having sex because she somehow thought my slip up meant I really wanted the room mate. You women are idiots.”

So I decided not to judge up on it. Yea, maybe he is chatting with other women and I shouldn’t be jealous. We are not in a relationship nor are we even dating. We’re just 2 grown ups having flirty chats on yahoo.
