Dating In The Dark

I watched a very interesting show the other night. It was called “Dating In The Dark“. I loved the entire concept of the show which was to find out if you could fall for someone  purely by getting to know them without ever seeing what they look like. For the show they take 3 men and 3 women and house them in a mansion. They have the house set up in a way which will not allow the men to see the women and vice versa. In the beginning of the show, all the daters enter the dark room and introduce themselves. This is basically to one another an idea of whom they would be interested in for a first date. The men then emailed the lady of their choice to arrange a date in the dark room.

Dates in the dark room

The dark room only has a small sofa and a bean bag chair. The couples can sit whereever they want and talk or make out, whatever. most often this is the real opportunity to talk and get to know them better. some couples chose immediately to size one another up by standing face to face to determine height and body size and body shape. Some couples would physically take their hands and feel the faces of one another like a blind person would do.

Outside of the dark room

In order to help the daters decide moreover whom they would be interested in for their next date they would bring in pyschologists to ask them questions which would then be semi-revealed to the opposite sex and they were also able to view, touch and smell articles of clothing the opposite sex wore.

Compatibility

Before the show began the daters answered many questions and were matched up in order of compatibility percentages by match experts and then their matches were revealed and the daters were encouraged to go on a dark room date with their matches.

What I noticed about this part of the show was that their expert matches were already matches the contestants had felt were the people they wanted to get to know fropm the very beginning and had already been on a date or two with.

The Unveiling

The final portion of the show was that they would finally be physically revealed to their match. then they would go back to their living quarters and decide whether or not they still felt the chemistry and wanted to pursue the relationship.

The Balcony Of Terror

If a date was certain they wanted to pursue their match they would go out on teh balcony, if the dater felt as thought they had no chemistry and did not want to pursue their match they would walk out the front door. On the balcony, the dates could view the front door so they would see if their match ditched them.

Of course some did not feel the physical chemistry and they ditched their dates while other did feelt he phycial connection as well and joined their partner on the balcony.

I would love to see more episodes of this show, it was so interesting and you find yourself hoping that the daters don’t get rejected but in the end it seems physical chemistry is still the ruler of the mind.
