Ok so Friday was the big night of my first speed dating event. I was really excited about it all. I ran out shopping on Friday afternoon looking for the perfect top and then I ran back to the mall 2 hours later to pick up a pair of leggings to complete my outfit. Only to completely change my outfit 10 minutes before I was to leave for the event.

First of all, I was starting to get nervous about the even getting canceled because I had read some earlier reviews on how the events sometimes get canceled the day of. I never received any emails or phone calls the day of so I knew it was still going on.

Anyhow, on with the speed dating even details. I was registered for the age group of 25-38 year old single professionals. I also attended the event with my older sister and her friend. We arrived just on time for check-in. When we walked in we could see a portion of the restaurant set up with 10 small tables with numbers on each table. At check in we were given a name tag and a table number written on the name tag. The ladies were to sit and stay at their assigned table all night while the gentlemen would rotate when the bell was rung after 6 minutes.

After receiving our numbers we moved over to the bar area to grab a quick drink. I grabbed a diet coke and about 5 minutes later the leader was calling us over to begin. but not before some guy that was not attending the event managed to walk up to me and say hello. I am pretty sure he was staking out the female daters that signed up because this resturant was so empty and quit prior to the daters arriving that no person in the right mind would go and hang out at that bar area. It was a bit obvious he knew about the even and wanted a free taste.

Once we were seated we were given a sheet that had numbers on it. As the dates began we were to write down the names of the men and then after they left the table, circle a yes or no as to whether or not we were interested in them. At the end of the event, the sheets of paper are collected and then the event coordinator is to release our contact information to the people we put down as a yes.

Anyhow, we sat down and the event began. Date #1 was with a man named Terry. Now terry was a bit older than I would have preferred but he was very friendly, charming and easy to have a conversation with. he was mostly fascinated with my job and just asked about my job the entire time. I only found out from my sister later that he even had kids. lol

Now date #2 was probably the most attractive man there. He was a bit slimmer than I prefer but he had a great smile and he had an amazing English accent. I actually wrote his name down as someone I was interested; in fact he was the only one I was interested in.

One man that was attractive just kept saying “I’m sorry, I am so shy. you go ahead”. I am not sure if he was attracted to me or if he wasn’t and that was his way to get through it.  Pretty much the rest of the dates resulted in either I found tem to be boring or I just was not attracted to them physically.

I am still waiting to hear back about any matches although I only wrote one man’s name down. So if he didn’t write mine down, we are not a match and I will receive no information.

The event was very organized and I had a blast.  I do not feel it was $30 wasted because it was an entertainign evening and helped me break out of my shell a bit. There was no feelings of being rejected because there was no expectations. I would definitely attend one again and I am thinking about doing the next one in March but actually driving to the next town over. I’d like to see that dating pool.
