I didn’t have time to blog about my latest conversation with a man named Jay before I left for Thanksgiving, so here it is. I met him on a Christian Dating site called Christiandatingforfree.com. It’s an ok dating website. It’s free so that’s always good. The problem is the database of eligible men in my area is scarce as I imagine it may be for all regions.
Anyhow, so Jay has one photo up and it’s just a profile of his upper body and face. I couldn’t quite get a good look at his face but his profile looks like Adam Sandler. So I shot a message to Jay with a little bit of humor telling him that he looks like Adam Sandler and I joked about his username. He responds and he wants to chat on Yahoo IM. Now, I dislike Yahoo IM as a method to get to know a potential date. It’s difficult to read in between the lines. You can’t tell tone of voice or sarcasm. So anyhow, he asks me to add him and I do. About 5 minutes later I get a message of “Who is this?”. So I identify myself and the dating site I met him on. He then asks me to identify my username on the website. At this point I’m thinking this guy is a player just tossing out his ID to anyone and everyone. He should have known me by my first real name since we had already exchanged 2 very nice emails. So I respond with “Um, that doesn’t look very good”. He gets a little snippy and responds with “That was a question.” I logged out and the next morning I get a lengthy message from him on the dating site apologizing for the misunderstanding etc.
So I log onto yahoo and he contacts me. We end up having a conversation that quickly makes me feel as though it has turned into a job interview. Check out the nerve of this guy.

jay: What are you online for at this hour?
singlemomdating: Is it late? lol
singlemomdating: I just got home from bible study. Well bible-party more like it. It was a pizza party and games night
jay: Yum yum
jay: What games you play?
singlemomdating: Catch Phrase and I am not sure about the 2nd game but we were on in agreement that it was a lame game
singlemomdating: all on*
jay: What do you do now online?
singlemomdating: working on my internet business
jay: Haha pays bills4
singlemomdating: well eventually it will be a nice income
singlemomdating: i’m just starting out though. Only been doing it
or about 2 months
jay: What’s your real job?
singlemomdating: I work part-time as a dental assistant
singlemomdating: i just took my board exam a few weeks ago so I am waiting for my results and license
singlemomdating: why are you out so late?
jay: Where are you at?
singlemomdating: Where do I live?
jay: Yes
singlemomdating: by the Mall
jay: Hello
singlemomdating: you?
jay: So why say its late?
jay: Same time zone lol
singlemomdating: yes, but didn’t you say you were out with friends?
jay: Yes and?
jay: What do you do when with friends?
jay: What hobbies do you do
singlemomdating: When we go out, it’s usually girly stuff
singlemomdating: you know, shopping and the movies
singlemomdating: hmm for hobbies I like blogging (saw that coming huh?)
jay: Uh huh
jay: Out door stuff
singlemomdating: I also like messing around with graphics in photoshop, I play video games, I walk on local trails, I watch cheesy reality tv
singlemomdating: how about you?
jay: Just same stuff I put on profile
singlemomdating: what do you do with your friends?
jay: Sports, games, cook, movies
jay: Who you live with?
singlemomdating: my sister and my nephew live with my son and I
jay: That’s right I remember noe
jay: I don’t know if I asked.. What’s going on with you and your sons dad?
singlemomdating: We are civil. I wouldn’t exactly call us friends but we are polite to one another
jay: How often you see him? And why?
singlemomdating: just for kid exchange
singlemomdating: he takes him every other weekend and then usually 2-3 hours one night a week
jay: What are your working schedules?
singlemomdating: I’m pretty much on call right now. They call me weekly and ask me to come in last minute
jay: How does that help! I guess why you with sis eh!
jay: Hard to find full time job?
singlemomdating: I cannot get the position I want until I have my license, so I am sorta stuck in limbo until then
jay: Retail or sales?
singlemomdating: huh?
singlemomdating: I’m a dental assistant
singlemomdating: after I graduated from college I went looking for a job but I was only offered positions for general dentistry
singlemomdating: I hate general so I am holding out for my license so I can get a position in a pediatric office
jay: Just waiting… How long have you been waiiting?
singlemomdating: a few months
singlemomdating: I failed my board exam in august and they do not let you retake it right away. They only schedule it a few times a year so I had to wait again to take in November
jay: ?
jay: Ill pray you pass. Next time
singlemomdating: I’m certain I did. I knew I failed last time. My temporary crown cracked at the last minute so I didn’t have time to remake it. But this time things went smoothly
singlemomdating: i serioulsy wanted to cry last time. I shouldn’t have failed because it was a nice crown but I made the mistake of taking it off and resting it on my workbench. the material shrank during that time so when I went to put the crown back in place it was too snug and cracked
jay: Do you have insurance?
singlemomdating: for what?
jay: Medical etc.
(at this point I am pretty damn pissed off at him and just want to get offline)
singlemomdating: yes, why do you ask?
jay: Curious hoping you did
singlemomdating: well it’s getting late. I should be bed. Goodnight Jay
I know it can’t be me, I know he was seriously screening me to see if I was “date worthy”.
