I have now been single for 3 1/2 years. I have not dated anyone more then 3 weeks in this time and the only “relationship” if I can even call it one; was whatever I had with David 3 years ago.
I read something the other night that has totally turned me off from free dating websites. I was doing my regular evening browse on bodybuilding.com and came upon a thread under “relationship help” in which guys openly discussed their intentions with using POF. Now let me give you the main set up here. These men posting in the thread ranged from ages 18-24 so their intentions of using the site were obvious and granted their age had everything to do with where their motives were.
They first complained how they get nothing but messages from “fatties” on POF. Then a few of the men would post photos of women they were interested in only they made it obvious that they were not after a relationship and rather they were “chasing tail”.
The men would warn one another and one conversation had this to say:
“Uh oh, careful for the myspace angles. She looks like she could be a fatty”.
(guy who posted the photo) “Yea she has sent me full body shots and she is thick. I don’t care. I’m just looking to bang her. I wouldn’t date her”.
As I read further into the thread I became more upset with myself and wanted to immediately delete my POF account. If this was what 99% of the men are like on that website, then why should I think I could possible meet a decent man on it?!
Message after message from POF men its the same crap! “hey babe you look hot” or “Wow! UR gorgeous. Hit me back if you wanna chat”! Loser after loser messages me. I do realize I may have a double standard because I myself have 30 pounds to lose but I do get really big men contacting me when my profile distinctly says I am interested in a man that works out and will mountain bike and hike with me. A 300+ man does not exactly have the mountain biking physique!
I have decided on 2 things:
I will not date until I reach my weight loss goal (hopefully by January 2010) and if I use an online dating site, it will be a paid one! I am saying goodbye to POF. Thank you losers on Bodybuilding .com to open my eyes to this BS!
