You never really get over an old crush until a new one has come along. I have had a crush on Val since Feb. 2007. I met him in an online videogame. (FFXI in case some of you gamers are interested.) Anyhow, we immediately clicked. He started to say things to make me feel desired, likeable and important. Then one day, like a flip of the switch he told me that he didn’t want to hurt me but that I shouldn’t wait around for him. He told me that we would probably never meet and that he knows I would never want to move and he doesn’t want to move so we may as well call it quits.
I was upset at first but I accepted it and tried my best to move on. He distanced himself from me and it was very noticeably. I backed off completely from even saying a hello to him first. Several months went by with nearly no contact then recently we started our friendship again and returning almost back to normal.
But why is it that I still have a crush on him after all this time? The only answer I can think of is that I never really got over it. In my heart I still feel like he could be a good match for me and even though deep down I know he probably doesn’t feel the same, I can’t stop thinking about him. Perhaps if I was dating someone, then and only then could I get over Val. Then again, maybe I won’t until I feel satisfied knowing 100%, we are not a good match.
I hate this. :/
